Tarot Deep Dives, Aces

It’s always a deep dive at Hermit’s Mirror, isn’t it?

My goal for Hermit’s Mirror—the whole reason and purpose, really—is to help diviners awaken to their full potential and re-align with their soul purpose.

The first step is providing you, diviners, with flexible tools to make the most of your natural talents. I want to help diviners become more knowledgeable so that you can be more confident and, importantly, precise. And precision comes from your intuition being able to communicate with an expanded vocabulary.

Tarot cards can mean any number of things. They are incredibly, and sometimes maddeningly, flexible. But it’s easy to run along the same pathways and shortcuts reading after reading if you haven’t learned the complex layers of meanings that the cards offer. When you learn those layers, your intuition has more “words” in its proverbial vocabulary with which to communicate. It’s why I teach layered strategies of interpretation in Read Tarot like a Nerd and why I’m starting my fall semester of tarot courses with a deep dive seminar into “Structures of Meaning." Not all methods will appeal to you right away (or ever), so it’s good to explore different angles and see what clicks.

To help you do that, I’m exploring the minor arcana through multi-layered deep dives over on Instagram and Tumblr. But so that readers here are not missing out, here is the batch of Tarot Deep Dives for the Aces.

Consider the images below to be my nuanced version of “tarot card meanings.” Each deep dive includes the following aspects of each card: key concepts; number and element; astrology and timing; major energy (based on element and astrology); meanings in context to help put it all together; and a surprise, which is more surprising for some cards than others.

Let me know what you think, what you learned, what I missed, or whatever.

Did you learn something?

If so, you may love my intensive fundamentals course for new and experienced tarot readers, Read Tarot like a Nerd. It’s self-paced so you can dive as deep as you like to work through the material thoughtfully, and you can come back to it as often as you’d like.
