Spring 2024 Semester [Recordings]

Tarot as a Language (Jan 13: Past recording)

Do you love a little white book, or do you think you’re beyond them? New tarot readers often rely heavily on the keywords in guidebooks, but once they’ve developed their intuitive practice and learned the nuances of cards, it can feel like the keywords are limiting. In this interactive workshop, we’ll play with keywords and make them come to life in practice readings. With only 78 “words” in a language, it helps to develop linguistic flexibility. Once you do, you’ll see how the tarot can speak plainly as well as poetically.

Reading Reversals (Feb 10: Past recording)

Not every reader uses reversals—and not every reader needs to—but reversals can add a layer of complexity, specificity, and self-reflection to your tarot readings. So why not learn how to use them effectively? In this interactive workshop, we’ll look at common ways of reading reversals and how a reversal can invite your intuition to see the card in unexpected ways. We’ll practice each technique with real readings so you can decide if—and when—to use reversals to your advantage.

Note. This seminar will also be valuable for non-tarot readers.

Intuitive Fun (Mar 9: Past recording)

Sometimes divination feels like an intense, and even draining, task. And it’s true that energy is expended in energy work. But tarot readings don’t have to feel like a slog or as if you’re searching through a hidden library for clues to grand mysteries. For this seminar, I’ll facilitate a direct experience with your intuition using tarot and oracle cards. You’ll learn ways of connecting with your intuition using cards that feel good for you, and we’ll discuss strategies to keep the energy flowing without it weighing down on you.

Note. This seminar will also be valuable for non-tarot readers.

Reading as a Ritual of Self-Care (Apr 6: Past Recording)

If I can teach nothing else to diviners, I hope I can convince you that a reading can be a delicious and indulgent form of self-care if you let it. In this interactive workshop, I’ll teach you strategies for making your readings feel special, and together we’ll explore how you can make these opportunities for self-empowerment, inner alignment, and rejuvenation for you specifically. We’ll also discuss ways that you can maintain or recover the feeling of the reading even after it has ended.

Note. This seminar will also be valuable for non-tarot readers.

Fall 2023 semester [Recordings]

Structures of Meaning (Sept 16: Past recording)

From numbers and suits to elements and astrology, tarot is full of the potential for structural interpretation. In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore these structures and practice using them in practice readings. We’ll see what works for you and when you feel like you’re playing by someone else’s rules. Then we’ll brainstorm how you could begin to create new structures for yourself. Who knows? You might be inspired to create a unique tarot variant of your own!

Signs of Meaning (OCt 14: Past recording)

Tarot is an inherently structured form of cartomancy, but a tarot reading isn’t a straightforward formula matching card with meaning. Imagery, intuition, and subtler impressions all play a vital role in the divinatory process. In this interactive workshop, we’ll practice using the sensory experience of relating to the cards and build upon your natural intuitive gifts, as well as help you find the balance between analysis and unconscious insight.

Note. This seminar will also be valuable for non-tarot readers even though the focus will be tarot.

Reading the Big Picture (Nov 11: Past recording)

The more cards, the better! Right? Or maybe not so much. A tarot spread using lots of cards can seem fun on paper but be daunting and confusing when you have to interpret the mess. After all, just three cards (ABC) can easily make seven mini readings (A, B, C, AB, AC, BC, and ABC)! In this interactive workshop, I’ll teach you strategies for reading large spreads and help you distinguish the patterns that matter from all the possible strands that will tie your reading up in knots. Bring a reading that’s left you stuck or bring a spread you want to understand better. It could even help you make your own spreads!

Note. This workshop will also be valuable for non-tarot readers even though the focus will be tarot.

Getting Intentional (Dec 9: Past recording)

Have you ever pulled a clarifier? Have you ever wondered if you should have shuffled just one more time? When you pull a reversed card, do you think that maybe you shouldn’t have included them? Have you wondered, “How could a court card possibly answer that question?” And real talk, do you know why you use tarot when you use it? Even if you know all the card meanings and feel good about your tarot practice, these questions can sometimes get in the way of a fluent and powerful tarot reading. Let’s get them sorted and help you set your own intentions for a clear reading every time!

Note. This seminar will also be valuable for non-tarot readers even though the focus will be tarot.
